For those that aren't familiar with the non-council members of our government. Ms. Aportela-Hernandez is the soon to be ex-clerk of Teaneck.
Ironically, she was not there to see if she was voted in because she was at the Teaneck council meeting. She is scheduled to begin working in Tenafly on Sept. 1.
Asked why she was moving (to the next town over), Ms. Aportela-Hernandez responded:
“Tenafly is a very stable community and is very fiscally responsible and family-oriented”.
and this: "I’ve know Tenafly to be a well-run town with a good head on its shoulders. But at the same time, it sponsors a strong sense of community, and with that you can see it’s a very family-oriented town. Whatever goes on during the day, people set it aside and enjoy time with their loved ones, based on my observations."
