Yikes (again)!

From The Record:

July 25. Two adult males reported that they had gotten off a bus on Teaneck Road at about 9 p.m. and were walking west on West Englewood Avenue when they were jumped from behind by a single male who attacked the first victim for a few seconds and then attacked the other. A male who was with the assailant was not involved in the assault but apparently acted as lookout. Both victims suffered bruises, but the only thing missing was the house key of one of the victims.

Aug. 4. A Ramapo Road resident reported that his 2005 BMW was stolen from his driveway during the night. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the key inside. A 2000 Chevy Blazer, which was also parked in the driveway with the doors unlocked, appeared to have been entered but nothing was reported missing. However, the BMW struck the Chevy when it was driven from the driveway and over the victim’s lawn.

Aug. 4. A Maple Avenue resident reported that during the night his 1993 Mercury Cougar was stolen from his driveway. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key inside. The vehicle was later discovered at about 6 p.m. in a Wilson Avenue driveway with the key hanging from the front door of the house. The Wilson Avenue resident discovered the vehicle in his driveway when he returned from a vacation.

Have you noticed an uptick in crime around town? And what's with all the people that leave keys in an unlocked car -- have you ever done that?
