David, Meet Goliath

Teaneck Patch is up and running. Patch is a private company, owned by AOL, that provides web portals for municipalities. Since the town has been unsuccessful at creating a useful website, Teaneck Patch could help to fill the gap.

Here's how they describe the site:
Welcome to Teaneck Patch, your portal to news and information about Teaneck. This site will feature the latest news with daily, even hourly, stories on what matters most to Teaneck. Curious what the town council just voted on? Want to know what all those sirens were on your block? Trying to find the score from the high school game last night? You'll find it all at Teaneck Patch.

In addition to bringing you the latest local news, the site will allow readers to interact with Teaneck Patch by posting comments, photos, calendar events and announcements. You can sign up for daily and weekly news digests, and breaking news alerts delivered via e-mail and text message.
Even if Patch becomes the go-to online spot for Teaneck news and information, I trust that there will still be room on the internet for quirky little local blogs...
